PPTC Awards Program
The following awards program has been developed to recognize both the individual achievements, and the team contributions of the PPTC membership in providing excellence and leadership among the running community.
As of 2006, we have abolished the duplication of awards in order to recognize a broader spectrum of our membership.
An important change for 2007 is the conversion of the "Volunteer of the Year" award from an individual to a group award acknowledging the cooperative effort of our indispensable volunteer corps. This year, any volunteer participating in 5 or more PPTC events will qualify for our Elite Volunteer Recognition award.

Top Runner (M/F)
Performance
Decided by committee based on top 12 race performance analysis from database.
Bob Mueller (Unisex)
Performance
Over age 50, nominated by committee from among top 10 male and top 10 female
runners, plus participation as a volunteer in a PPTC event. Final vote is by
the membership.
Most Improved (Unisex)
Performance
Nominated by committee for improvement in time, and/or consistency and/or versatility
in distance raced. Final vote is by the membership.
Comeback Runner of the Year
Performance
Injured or sidelined by physical limitations for 6 months. Must run 6 races to qualify.
Nominated and voted on by the membership
New Member (Unisex)
Performance and/or Service
Needs 6 races to qualify. Noteworthy running or significant contributions to club events
can earn a nominee the award. Nominated and voted on by the membership.
Outstanding Single Contribution (Unisex)
(Optional) Service
A standout contribution which improves club image, operations or provides a unique
opportunity for member participation. Nominated and voted on by the membership.
Elite Volunteer Corps (Group Award)
Service
Requires volunteer participation at 5 PPTC events. Race directorship and assignments
demanding a great degree of involvement may receive extra credit at the discretion of
the committee.
Most Races (M/F)
Performance
Tracked by reported number of races.
Most Miles (M/F)
Performance
Tracked by reported mileage.
President’s Award
A special award presented to a deserving recipient for an unspecified reason solely at the president’s discretion.
- There will be no duplication of awards, except for those receiving the Elite Volunteer Recognition award. They may also receive an individual award.
- In the event that one member wins 2 awards, he will receive the one listed first in the table above. The next nominee with the most votes for the vacated award will then win that award.
- Dual Team Registration is not permitted in road racing competition. Any member who has run for another team during the year will be disqualified from consideration for a performance-based award. The member will still be eligible for service-based awards. Duathlons, triathlons and other similar events, although they may incorporate running, are exempt from this restriction.
